Why the month of Shravan is the holiest time to worship Lord Shiva, and how to observe it.
The holy month of Shiva
Shravan Maas is dedicated to Lord Shiva. During the churning of the ocean, Shiva drank the halahala poison to save creation — so this month is offered in his worship. Each Monday (Shravan Somvar), devotees observe fasting and offer Rudrabhishekam and Rudra Puja for health, harmony and the fulfilment of their sankalpas.
